Hi, I was Sisterlocked on 12/11/06 by Ms. Elaine Hill of Dallas!! She is AWESOME and has been taking care of my thick, nappy hair for almost 5 years. Up until 12/11 I was wearing twists(flat, 2 strand, comb ) done by Elaine. Upon her suggestion (in no way pushy) I looked at Sisterlocks again and decided to get them around September of this year.
My mindset was that I would lose versatility with locks so I just did not seriously consider them. When I really looked at Sisterlocks (read the journal searched the web) I realized DUH!! I would get a LOT of versatility with Sisterlocks! AND since I was wearing my hair twisted up 95% of the time ANYWAY........WHY NOT?!
At 43 I have been natural most of my life. At age 29 I got my first and only relaxer and I quit it in about a year because it broke my hair. Before wearing my hair in twist I usually got a press and curl or just wore it back in a French braid. My main problem with my hair is control; it is VERY thick, COARSE and nappy.
